It’s a problem that many exercise enthusiasts “run” into all the time. A cellphone these days is not only a phone, of course, but a close workout buddy. It’s got your tunes, the time, and trackers that measure the distance run, the calories burned, and sometimes even your heart rate.
Phones have gone from giant bricks to slim tablets, and yet people still need to carry them. Phones keep getting bigger, smaller, slimmer and wider all at the same time. With the FlipBelt, it doesn’t matter which iPhone model you have, or whether you can find a workout belt that fits a Samsung Galaxy S5. All phones fit snugly in the FlipBelt—it’s truly a one-size-fits all solution.
The FlipBelt design team did a lot of fitness testing using a variety of phone models from the most popular lines—iPhone, Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola and BlackBerry—to make sure it stayed in place and stayed safe. Not only did we take each phone for a spin in the FlipBelt for the duration of a 10K run, we tested them while rock climbing, playing golf and tennis, biking, weight training and doing household errands (hey, that’s a workout too!). With the FlipBelt, your phone stays exactly where you put it.
Workout armbands are often specifically made to fit a certain model of phone. While that keeps them secure, armbands often don’t have enough room to fit other items, like keys or money; their sizes are also customized to fit only the newer models of phones, so finding one to fit the relatively old-school iPod Touch, Nano, or Shuffle could be difficult. And what about those regular phone upgrades? It’s becoming more common to only go a year or two with the same phone—meaning you’ll have to upgrade your armband, too.
You’ve got an armband for your phone while running, a sock to hold your money, and a pocket to hold your keys—but isn’t it great to keep your all your stuff together while working out? There’s even enough space in the FlipBelt to hold everything other than your phone: earbuds, inhalers, insulin pumps, EpiPens, and other important medication. And with no zippers, there won’t be any fumbling around!
Armbands can be awkward to workout with, while other workout belts can be bulky. FlipBelts are flat—and with cellphones being just as slim these days, you won’t be adding any extra weight to your workout.
